Why This Matters

More than 80% of women go into the birth of their child intending to breastfeed in Windsor-Essex.  Less than 50% leave the hosptial breastfeeding and by 2 months that number drops to 25%.  By 6 months about 16% of women are breastfeeding. These numbers are substantially lower than provincial averages.

 

*Most women in Windsor-Essex do not reach their breastfeeding goals.*

Due to covid 19 measures that the WECHU put in place to remedy this were stopped and services they already supplied were greatly scaled back.
